Transparency & Reflection
Leisure & Reflection: Obvious Siblings
Man this book is fantastic.
The leisurely connection here is pretty straightforward.
Sartre claimed that our capacity to know our own minds is linked to our capacity to know the world because our awareness of the world constitutively involved a kind of implicit self-awareness, which we can transform, on reflection, into an explicit knowledge of our own minds.
Leisure and Reflection are obvious siblings, and Matthew Boyle does a good job of extrapolating out where that takes us which I had a great time teasing out in this review.
Really enjoyed this one. Not sure I understood all of it, but the parts I got really resonated. I can only hope I understood correctly.
